Akita or shiba aren't breeds that suit just for everyone. Charasteristic for the breeds self-esteem, independence and even willfulness are challenging for the owner.
Most individuals have higher than avarage ambition to become the boss of the pack, so upbringing a puppy must be based on consistency and reciprocal confidence.
A wise, capable on intelligent (in dogs view) decisions leader gains respect of a dog. It cannot be gained by using force! Still, akita and shiba both need a strong and unquestionable leader, as
a dog that is raised without rules surely is a potential problem dog.
Akita as well as shiba fits only too poorly as human's ego's extension. If you want to show off, get a Porshe. But if you want a loyal, gentle and intelligent
member of family and can similarly be loyal, gentle and intelligent, akita or shiba may be the perfect breed of dog for you.
